I wasn't really expecting much since it was a cheap game but hey I played free otome games and they were awesome, and I was really disappointed with this one.The story was short and too simple, and you don't get hints on how your answers affect the relationship with the characters, and the answer options are repetitive. Even if you end up with different characters, THE OPTIONS THAT LEADS TO THE ENDING REMAINS THE SAME FOR BOTH. There's no difference!! Even the lines are same; modified abit according to characters. There was this one annoying cut scene where all the characters went clubbing in the club and it was a video of real life people in the club, found it annoying that they: 1. didn't put a skip button, i had to endure the whole scene. 2. They made it clear in the beginning to make the game korean as possible, but the video was full of white people, even one of the characters who were supposedly dj-ing turned white here lol. It looks lazy AF to me.I wouldn't recommend this game, if you're interested in alot of endings because to me, there seems to be only two : accept the character then move or leave.. I don't recommend buying this game. The story is too shory and uneventful. The mini-game is not very smooth and it doesn't really add anything to the story like it may TRY to do. You're better off downloading one of the free dating sims, at least they have a longer story (most of the time) and, usually, better than this. Just sayin'.. This is a visual novel, but it doesn't offer the variety I'm used to in such games. The option to choose your own name doesn't exist, the characters are very one-dimensional with only one graphic for each, the mini-game is completely and totally pointless, and the length of time this game encompasses does not allow for any real feeling of connection with either the story or the characters. On the plus side, the art style is good and the soundtrack is soothing. For a short game at a low price, it's not a bad investment, but don't buy this one if you want something to touch you or make you feel you've experienced something romantic.. This virtual novel was engaging and the backrounds were all fantastic. The dialogue was fine and the characters seemed really different from each other. The minigame was kind of boring after the first time and i still have no idea what happens based on the game. The in game events seemed like things that would actually happen. You should get this game if you want an engaging storyline and amazing artwork,. I liked this game. Do I recommend it? Yes. Ok end of review! Keep walking!Just kidding. Ok now on to the meat and potatoes of my review….Setting“Heart and Seoul” is a short otome Visual Novel set in Seoul but the core of the story is pretty universal so it’s not like it’s un-relatable on any level. The characters could be called Jim, Samantha and Steve and be New Yorkers and I don’t think the plot would change that much. The whole “Seoul” thing is pretty much a backdrop that provides interesting cultural learnings (yup took that from Borat) and almost serves as a guide from the Korean Board of Tourism.StoryIt’s short, about an hour for a single story track if you’re a fast reader, maybe hour and a half if you read it at the prompter speed. But I don’t feel short is a bad thing, I’m a pretty busy person and I don’t like having to slog through a storyline that is heavily buffered with fluff just to give it extra length. This one gets to the point and there are rarely any dull moments, the characters are always doing something or talking about something that is pertinent to either the characterization of the characters or the plotline. Could it be more romantic and passionate? Yes, this certainly isn’t a Danielle Steele nor is it Twilight or Fifty shades of Grey. On the bright side, if you happen to not like Twilight or Fifty Shades of Grey then you might like this. But yeah, not really that romantic till the end but I don’t really mind it that much as it’s “realistic” as the characters take time to become friends first.Audio Catchy pop-y and techno tunes. I liked it, kept the feeling of the game very light. Some nice sound effects too like the phone buzzed when it rang and stuff, could have had more though in my opinion.MinigameMatch-3! Always fun, especially when you don’t have to pay to use a lollipop hammer.ArtCharacter sprites are ok, could be a lot better and maybe some costume and expression changes could be in order. Probably the weakest part of the visual novel in my opinion. I liked the impressionist style backgrounds though made me feel like I was in a Degas painting.ConclusionAll in all I liked it, it certainly has its faults and it definitely is not the most exciting VN out there. In many ways I feel that in the attempt to be “realistic” and “slice of life” a lot of excitement and passion got left on the cutting table. Though within that I did enjoy a lot of the conversations between the characters and there were a lot of funny moments in the game, which is rare in videogames, and for that alone I feel that one should get this game, even for the few chuckles it will give you along the way!. Heart and Seoul is an otome visual novel about a girl that goes to Seoul (the capital of South Korea) on vacation and has a great time there and even has a chance to fall in love. Sounds pretty standard right? Well, it is in many ways and there is no doubt that the plot is very strictly “slice of life” but within it there is something utterly charming and magical about the writing. The dialogue is often funny, sweet and heartwarming and the characters feel very real and well rounded.I’m not sure if the developers were aiming for this, but the game really feels a lot like a Korean Drama (and if it was what they were aiming for then they achieved this perfectly). The game embodies the sweetness and fun behind Korean dramas really well and as someone who has been to Seoul and Korea I must say that they got the feel down really well. Now the game certainly isn’t without faults; it is often cheezy, corny and hammy… but so are Korean dramas so can we really blame them? Besides cheese, corn and ham are some of my favorite foods! My other big criticism is that the expressions of the characters never change, that does take away from things quite a bit.All in all a pleasant VN and in my opinion, the game on steam that best represents Korea and probably the best Korean game out there!
